Creating a bootable flash drive through UltraISO

The times when the computer was loaded exclusively from the disk drive, due to the absence of the hard drive in its design, have long sunk into oblivion, but the boot disks have by no means lost their relevance. They only began to be applied less frequently and for other purposes. This publication aims to prove that for UltraISO creating a bootable USB flash drive is quite a feasible task, and also to describe this process as thoroughly as possible.

Bootable flash-drive can be created via UltraISO

What is a boot disk and why a flash drive

A computer that does not have a hard disk is simply unimaginable, there are simply no such things in nature. Therefore, the Windows operating system, for example, is installed on the hard drive and is loaded when you turn on the computer from it. This means that the start disk is not needed at all.

Such disks are used in two cases.

The first is that you can boot from it and, if you have the appropriate software on it, restore the failed Windu or save the data on the sprinkled hard drive. Distributions of such kind of reanimators in the network with an excess. Having started the computer from them, it becomes possible to format or modify any partitions on the hard disk (from Windows access to the system partition is limited), copy data from an idle machine, when the same flash drive is most often used, testing hardware and achieving other goals.

The second, probably the most important application of a bootable USB flash drive is the actual installation of a new operating system. Clearly, a computer without an Axis is nothing more than a pile of iron. The system is installed cleanly, if it is not possible to restore the old one that was damaged for any reason, and also on the newly purchased computer, when its hard drive is empty.

Problems with CDs have led to reasonable people trying to reject them. They really were know-how at one time, but the cheapening of the technical processes of their production led to unacceptable loss of quality. Yes, if you make a CD using gold and the appropriate technology, then it is guaranteed that you can store data on them for over a hundred years. In practice, this time does not exceed several months, well, or years, if you keep them as a sultan bride. Therefore, the question of how to make a bootable flash drive, has become the only correct (no one remembers the CD).

What to write on the boot drive UltraISO

By and large, the program does not make any difference what exactly will be recorded. The process is reduced to the recording of a previously prepared image on a disk, which UltraISO considers flash memory. But to create exactly the boot option, it is necessary that the source of the recording is the image of the starting disk.

On a fair question "where to get", as usual, Google will answer, well, or Yandex, as you like. On the network, you can find images of any kind of "resuscitator" and operating systems, including the grunt. But here you have to be careful. Not everything that lies frivolously online is suitable for recording and may contain viruses and worms.

IMPORTANT. This is not a revelation for anyone that all sorts of "husk" on the Internet is enough and, unfortunately, it is becoming more and more year after year. You can spend a lot of time (days, sometimes, weeks) before there is a really good image.

Therefore, to create an UltraISO bootable USB flash drive, it is best to take a proven image from your acquaintances or use your friends CD to burn it. If this option is not possible, then Google to help.

UltraISO and how to create a bootable USB flash drive from the image

Immediately it should be noted that the popularity of UltraISO among users may not be entirely justified. There are programs that perform the same functions and, according to many, are more convenient to use. Moreover, this software is absolutely free. But because of the habit, many people use UltraISO, and it is inconvenient to talk about paid programs in the post-Soviet space even to the well-known Gates.

So, it is assumed that there is an image and the program itself is installed, and in the USB connector there is a flash memory, at least 4 GB in size.

IMPORTANT. The amount of memory may be less, but most often images of various operating systems created from DVD are recorded. Therefore, four "hectares" will be needed.

You can preformat the flash drive in the FAT32 system, although this happens anyway when recording.

Having started the program, we get to the main window, where we click on the “Open” item in the “File” menu and specify the image file. The most commonly created with the help of UltraISO is a bootable Windows 7 USB flash drive, so the file you are looking for will be called win7.iso or the like.

Given that the flash drive for UltraISO is just a disk, select “Burn hard disk image” in the “Boot” menu and set the required parameters in the window that appears. Here you need to specify the target disk (flash memory), the recording method set by default USB + HDD +, and the image name will already be set. It remains only to start the process with the record button and enjoy the confident work of the program.

No image, but there is a distribution on CD / DVD

If there is a CD, there is no need to pre-create its image, although it is possible and often required. You can create a bootable USB flash drive from the distribution kit directly, bypassing this stage. The action algorithm is no different from the one described above, with one exception. Instead of the “Open” item, in the “File” menu, select “Open CD / DVD”. Next, we act as in the case of the image.

There is only a folder with a copied distribution

In this case, you need to go through the chain "File", then "New", then "Bootable CD / DVD image". In the window that appears, you should specify the file bootfix.bin, which is for Windows 7 and 8 in the boot folder. At the bottom of the window that appears, select the folder containing the installation files. You need to select files (not a folder) and drag them to the upper part of the window. Further, all on the thumb: "Self-loading", "Burn hard disk image" and so on with one exception. The "Image File Name" field must remain empty.

It was mentioned earlier that UltraISO has many alternatives for creating bootable flash drives. But people who are accustomed to working with this particular software will never abandon it. After all, this is really a reliable application that has won the sympathy of a huge number of users.
