Customize Paper Size in Word

The constant development of modern technologies allows users to carry out electronic document flow, which naturally minimizes the use of printers and printing in general. However, this does not exclude the printed version of the documents, which still occupies a leading position in all spheres of human life.

A huge number of various documents are compiled and edited in Microsoft Word. Immediately worth noting that, as a rule, most of them are in A4 format, established by the international standard ISO 216, which is used and adopted worldwide. However, besides it, there are many others that can be used when printing a variety of texts and documents.

Today we will explain how to change the format in a Word document.

Other Formats from Series A

The most popular, as we have already found out, is an A4 sheet, which is currently used everywhere when printing technical, legal, financial documentation, plain texts and is generally standard for office printers and copiers.

The second most popular is the A3 format, which is used to create drawings, various diagrams and large tables.

And, finally, it is worth mentioning the A5 format, which is most common in typography.

Setting the type of paper used

So, working in Word, you have the opportunity to choose on paper what size you will print a particular document. Setting these parameters is quite simple and will require you to just a couple of mouse clicks. The following description applies to program versions from 2007.

Method # 1: Page Layout menu

In order to change the size and type of paper, go to the “Page Layout” tab and there click on the small arrow in the “Page Setup” field. Once in this menu, you will see three more tabs, among which is the one we need. It is called "Paper Size". In addition to the fact that here you can choose from the basic formats used today, you can also specify the specific parameters of the sheet you are using in centimeters, if it is unique.

By the way, the transition to the "Page Settings" is just one of the settings. Directly in the area itself there is also a “Size” item and a drop-down menu with all popular sheet sizes.

Method number 2: Tab "Print"

Naturally, the setting described above is not the only solution to this task. Directly in the “Print” menu you can also choose the format you need.

Setup in Word 2003

In this version of the program to get to the “Page Layout” area, click on the “File” menu and find “Page Settings” in the list that opens.

Actually, that's all the action you need to take to change the type of paper. However, do not forget that your printer, as an option, does not support one or another type of sheet, therefore, before printing, make sure that it will cope with the task.
