Adding links to web pages and documents

Most of the time at the computer we spend on the Internet. Music, movies, books, communication - on the World Wide Web there is literally everything that people are interested in. In addition to searching for information, it’s important to be able to share this information with others. Especially for this, and links were invented. In this article we will look at how to insert a link into the text of a page or post. Let's figure it out. Go!

To begin with, let's look at adding a link to a page using WordPress. Here the algorithm of actions is as follows:

  1. Set the mouse cursor in the desired area where the link should be located.
  2. Enter a name for the link and highlight it.
  3. Click the "Insert / Edit Link" button in the WordPress toolbar.
  4. After the special window opens, enter the address in the appropriate field and click the "Add ..." button

If it is necessary for the link to open not in the same tab, but in a new window, tick the “Open in a new window / tab” box with a bird.

Please note that the link address you provide must contain (without quotes) “//”.

Now let's move on to adding links in a Microsoft Word text editor. To quickly create a hyperlink, just enter the page address of the site and press the space or Enter and Word will automatically make it active (the address will be highlighted in blue).

To create a custom hyperlink, follow these steps:

  1. Select text or picture.
  2. Click on the "Insert" tab and click on the "Hyperlink" button in the "References" section. Or simply click on the object with the right mouse button and select the same item from the menu.
  3. In the Link to option, select a file or web page, depending on which link you are creating.
  4. Enter the address in the corresponding field or specify the required file in the "Folder" item.

Using the “Hint” button, you can edit the pop-up message when you hover over a link.

You can also create a hyperlink by dragging and dropping. Having opened the necessary document, go to the web page and right-click on the object. Then drag it to the Taskbar and move the cursor to the document to which you want to add a link. Release the key in the text area where you want to place the link, and click "Create a hyperlink."

If it became necessary to refer to a specific place in the document, then this is also done simply:

  1. Specify the location for the hyperlink using the header style.
  2. Mark the text area you want to link to.
  3. Go to the “Insert” tab and click on the “Bookmark” button.
  4. Specify the name of the bookmark and click "Add."

Everything. Done!

Very often there is a need to add links to the social network VKontakte. And if with the addition of external links everything is clear (copy-paste), then with internal links everything is much more complicated and most users have no idea how this is done. In fact, nothing complicated here.

To create links to wiki pages, you must specify the name or ID of the page in such brackets: "[[]]". To edit the link text, you need to enter it after the "|" (vertical slash). It looks like this:

[[page0123456 | Text]]

To add a link to the page of another group, type: club_id group: name of the page. It should look like this: “[[club12345: News]]”.

You can also create anchors - links to specific areas of the page. In this case, everything is done in almost the same way as described above. Only you need to specify not the name of the page, but the title. Before the title you need to put "#" (sharp, lattice). The title is an anchor tag. For example, "[[# second chapter | second chapter]]".

In this case, be sure to specify the text after the vertical slash, so that the link is displayed correctly. Also note that Opera users will only be able to use those anchors that have tags written in Latin letters or numbers.

Now, if there is a need to refer to a website, file or place in a document, you can easily cope with this task. Leave your comments about this article in the comments and ask any questions on the topic that might arise after reading the material.
