How to return the computer system settings

Restoring the laptop to its factory settings is a useful feature that will be very necessary when Windows stops working correctly. In order not to reinstall the system again, it is very convenient to simply “roll back” to the initial state, when the OS was still working properly. In this article we will examine in detail how to return the laptop to the factory settings and answer all related questions.

Reset options can be used instead of reinstalling Windows

If you purchased a Windows PC, you need to understand that when you reinstall the system (and you will most likely install a pirated version), a special section containing all the data required to return to the factory settings will be deleted. Knowing this very section, you can forget about reinstalling the system. Since it is much easier to take and reset the current state and parameters of the computer than to fool around with reinstalling the OS.

All methods of resetting PC settings differ depending on the brand of manufacturer. Consider the most popular brands on the market. Before you begin, you need to fully understand what will happen to your PC and its data after a rollback:

  • All information on the disk on which Windows is installed will be deleted. It is recommended to keep all data, files and programs on other logical drives. This will save your files after the system is restored.
  • This will complete the formatting of the system partition.
  • The operating system will be restored from the image.
  • After the installation of Windows begins, the installation of the necessary drivers and some system utilities that were originally on the laptop will begin.

After restoring the factory settings, the PC will look like you just bought it. If everything suits you, then go directly to how it is done.

If you use an Asus brand computer, then it already has a special utility with which you can easily roll back your PC to its previous state.

The first thing to do is turn off Boot Booster mode through the BIOS. To enter the BIOS, press F2 while turning on the computer. After you get into the BIOS, you can turn off the quick boot mode in the “Boot” tab, just set “Disabled” next to the desired item. Save and exit. Next, restart the laptop and press F9 during startup. After that, you will see a download window. The system will ask you to confirm the operation and start a rollback. Upon completion of the operation, the PC will reboot.

On HP laptops, everything is done in a similar way. Press F11 during PC startup. In the window that opens, select "System Restore", there you can save the necessary data. Next will begin the procedure to return to the factory settings. As in the previous case, the PC will be rebooted and, after this, you will receive the computer in its original form.

For those who use Acer laptops, the script is:

  • While turning on the PC, repeatedly press the F10 key while holding down Alt.
  • Further, you will be asked for a password, the default is: 000000.
  • After entering the password, select “Factory Reset”.
  • The recovery will start.

Also on Acer laptops there is a special eRecovery Management program that performs the same functions only through the OS interface.

Samsung laptops also have a corresponding utility called Samsung Recovery Solution. Or you can resort to the classical method. While turning on the PC, press F4 and select “Recovery”, then press “Full recovery” and “Factory settings”. The recovery will begin after you confirm the operation.

And finally, Toshiba laptops. The principle is similar to all of the above. Start the computer by holding down the 0. The system may require you to enter a username and password. In the menu that opens, select "Toshiba HDD Recovery Program". You will need to click “Next” several times and confirm the operation.
