Authentication error when connecting to Wi-Fi on Android tablet

Introduction

To date, absolutely all Android devices, regardless of price and tricked out, are equipped with a Wi-Fi wireless module. Cellular Internet is not always fast, often quite expensive, and Wi-Fi is always unlimited and fast.

The problem with authentication can be solved in different ways.

But sometimes it happens that when trying to connect to the tablet, the system writes “Authentication error”. The device can not access the Internet. There may be several reasons for this. We offer for consideration options for their decision.

Wrong access password

The most common reason is incorrectly entered password from Wi-Fi. In no case can it be written in Russian letters, the number of characters and their case must match. To change it on the tablet:

  • Launch Settings - Wireless Networks - Wi-Fi.
  • Find your name in the list of available connections, hold it for a few seconds.
  • Select "Change network" - enter the combination - Save. In order not to be mistaken, put a tick on "Show password".
  • If it did not help, then, holding the connection name, select “Delete this network” and reconnect.

If it does not help, change the connection password in the router. How to do this, read the article.

Security options

Another possible reason - the tablet or Android phone is not fully compatible with the security settings of your router. Log in to the web interface of the router, in the tab "Network Security" we recommend the following settings:

  • protection mode - WPA / WPA2 - Personal;
  • version - WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK (or automatically);
  • encryption - AES;
  • Password - 8 digits.

Wireless mode

It is also possible that a cheap or old tablet may not support the latest 802.11n and 802.11ac communication standards, and the router is configured to work exactly in them. To solve this problem, in the network settings on the router, set the automatic mode selection (mixed 802.11b / g / n / ac). After saving the settings, do not forget to restart the router via the web interface or the power button. Then delete the connection from the list on the tablet, reconnect to it.

Conclusion

When your device does not connect to Wi-Fi, it does not mean that it is broken and you need to run to the service center. Check out some settings and it will work.
