Useful operations with video in the program Sony Vegas

Sony Vegas is a popular video and audio editor that allows you to achieve almost professional quality work. Its interface is quite simple, especially if there is a crack, however, most versions (including the official one) are available in English. To understand the functionality, we suggest you familiarize yourself with the basic operations.

Features of working with video in the program Sony Vegas.

Preservation

There are two possible options for saving videos in Sony Vegas:

  • as a project;
  • as ready material.

When you load a clip into the editor, process it, and then you want to leave it for a while, to finish it later, you can click “File” - “Save”. The video will remain in the .veg extension, and it will be possible to open it only in Sony Vegas.

If the project is ready, you need to export to another format - usual for players, for example, MP4 or AVI. To do this, click “File” - “Render As”, enter the name, select the folder to store and in the “MainConcept AVC / AAC” section select “Internet HD 720”. Then click “Render” and wait for the rendering to complete.

Slowdown

You can slow down the video either entirely or by selecting a separate fragment. If the original material was with sound (an audio track automatically appeared under the tape with frames when importing into the editor), remember that the voice acting will suffer. To avoid this, you need to separate the elements - click on the video and press "U". And now just hold down the Ctrl and pull the edge of the video tape, as if stretching it. Play to make sure the speed matches your design. In this way, you can slow down the clip no more than four times.

If you wish, you can only slow down a piece of the roller: to do this, move the marker (vertical bar with an arrow on the video tape) to the right place and press "S" - the fragment will be cut off from the common track and become available for separate editing. Next, do the same: hold Ctrl and stretch the video.

Acceleration

Speed up the video is also completely easy. To do this, press Ctrl, catch the edge of the track with the mouse and tighten the track. Do not forget to disconnect the audio, if any. Acceleration is possible only 4 times.

IMPORTANT. Note that acceleration and deceleration affect the duration of the video.

Pruning

To trim the video, you need to grab the left mouse button and move the edge to the agreed place. Remember that the fixed audio track will also change. If you want to cut a piece from the middle, place markers (the deleted fragment will be highlighted) on both its sides and press Delete. Now pull the two segments to each other to eliminate the resulting gap.

TIP. How to divide the video in Sony Vegas into separate parts, it was already mentioned above: put a strip marker in the place of trimming and click “S”.

Rotate and flip

Sometimes during playback, the captured video is displayed in a rotation of 90, 180 degrees. This can be corrected: on the left there is a window called “All media files”, right-click and select “Properties”. We stop at the penultimate point “Turn” and indicate the angle of rotation.

You can also flip the video in another way: load it into the editor; in the tape with the storyboard there will be an icon in the form of a rectangle whose sides come forward. The tool is called “Event Pan / Crop”. Move the cursor to the corner of the roller - there will be semicircular arrows. Now you can rotate the record as you like.

The same method is used to mirror a movie: right-click on the “Event Pan / Crop” icon and select “Flip Horizontal” or “Flip Vertical”.

Approach and distance

Video is brought closer by the Event Pan / Crop tool we already know. Click on it with the left button and in the opened window pull the edges of the dotted rectangle. If you compress it, the video, on the contrary, will be removed.
