Features of using the WEB version of the Telegram messenger

Many users who encounter on the Internet with the mention of such a mysterious version of the popular messenger, like the web, are beginning to wonder what it is to Telegrams online and how to use it. That's it about this and will be discussed in the article.

The Web version cannot be called a standalone messenger, since it uses the link of the account previously created using the version of the application for the smartphone. That is why just to register, as in a normal social network, will not work here.

Login and Registration

From the question itself it is easy to guess that the web version implies using a browser and entering a specific address.

This version of the messenger is perfect for those who do not have the desire and / or ability to install a full-fledged application.

To log in, you should use the address bar of any convenient browser and the actual address itself - “//web.telegram.org”. It should be noted that the site uses the “https” protocol (HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure), which allows you to make the most secure connection.

So, after opening the site, an authorization window will appear. The interface is in English, but everything is understandable, even for a user who does not speak this international language.

In the “Sign In” block, you will need to select a country from the list in the “Country” line and enter the current phone number that is already registered in the system. Keep in mind that the phone must not be blocked and be nearby, as you will need to confirm the authorization by entering a code that will go to your phone number.

Click “Next”, agree that you entered the correct phone number by clicking on the “OK” button.

Next, you will receive a text message with a 5-digit code, which you will need to enter in the line “Enter your code”. If you still notice that you have mistaken the phone number, go back to the previous section by clicking on the link "Edit phone number".

After logging in, a window with your contacts, channels and active chats will immediately open. By the way, the chat will open at exactly the moment from which you interrupted the previous reading.

Unfortunately, in the Telegram web version does not support the Russian language. You can, of course, use the translator built into the browser, but you shouldn’t fully rely on such machine translations, although this will be enough to identify sections you are unfamiliar with or correspondence in a chat.

How to use the interface

The Web version is not much different from the Telegram dextop application for Windows.

To open the pop-up menu, click on the icon (three horizontal lines) in the upper left corner or simply click on the "Telegram".

The menu consists of 5 sections:

  • "New group" (New group);
  • "Contacts";
  • "Settings";
  • "Telegram FAQ" - allows you to go to the section with frequently asked questions;
  • "About" is a section with brief information about the service.

With four sections out of five, everything is quite clear, you should more carefully make out “Settings”.

In this section of the menu, you can see and carry out the following parameters (for convenience, we divide them into blocks):

  1. Block "Basic Information". Here will be indicated: Last Name and First Name (to edit, press “Edit”), phone number, nickname, as well as the established profile photo and the last activity time.
  2. Block "Notification". To enable / disable background and pop-up notifications.
  3. "Message preview" (Message Preview).
  4. “Sound” - allows you to enable / disable and adjust the volume of the notification sound.
  5. Setting the keyboard combination of sending a message and moving to a new line.
  6. “Language” - allows you to change the interface language, in addition to English, Telegram uses: Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch and Portuguese (aka Brazilian).
  7. “Set additional password” (Install additional password) - allows you to set the input for two-step (two-factor) authentication.

  8. "Active Sessions" - shows the latest active sessions of this profile.
  9. "Log out" - designed to exit the profile.

Thanks to the Web version, Telegram has gone far ahead from its main competitors. Millions of users are already actively using the capabilities of the Web or the Telegram Web, as it is called in common people, and with each passing day more and more active users are becoming.
