Proper Xbox 360 Internet connection

Xbox 360 has long ceased to be a regular game console, but to be able to fully enjoy all its functions, you need to connect to the Internet, or rather, to the Xbox Live service, which is a specially developed utility for connecting to the Internet game console. It is the connection to the official Live utility that will give the owner of the set-top box the opportunity to play with friends over the network, listen to music, download games, watch movies and TV channels, visit websites, save games in the cloud and access them from any corner of the planet, and much more. But in order for all this to be possible, you need to connect your Xbox 360 to the Internet via cable or using a Wi-Fi network. Let's consider both options.

The Internet allows you to extend the functionality of the console

Wired Xbox 360 Internet Connection

This method is considered the fastest and most reliable. In order to access the Internet, the owner of the set-top box will need:

  • network cable;
  • modem or gateway;
  • network access via DSL technology or cable.

If you have all this, then you need to consistently perform the following steps:

  1. The network cable is inserted at one end into the switched off router, and the other end is connected to the back panel of the switched off console.
  2. We turn on the modem in the socket and wait until it tunes to the working mode (usually it takes 5-10 seconds), after which we turn on the console.

If at this stage there are any difficulties, then you should check that all cables are properly connected. If the cables are in place, but there is still no connection, you should turn off the console, remove the power cable and check the connectors for traces of dust or debris that could interfere with the connection, and then re-insert the cable until it clicks. You can also try using a different connector on the modem and check if all the power cords are well inserted. Usually after such a check, the problem is eliminated.

Connect your Xbox 360 and 360 S to the Internet via Wi-Fi

Using Wi-Fi on the game console depends on which version of the console is being used - 360 or 360 S.

In the first case, it will be necessary to insert the adapter into the rear panel of the console and connect the USB cable to the slot on the console.

When using newer consoles of version X, the whole procedure is much simpler - just click on the Guide button and select the Network settings item. If the network is not displayed in them, then you need to press the X button on the joystick, and the list of networks will be updated.

In both cases, for successful access to the Internet, go to the Settings menu (button Guide), go to the System sub-item, select the network and enter the password to it.

Join Xbox Live

It is the Live service (integrated into the operating system) that allows console owners to enjoy all the delights of network life (in the case of the Live GOLD paid package). But to take advantage of all this, you first need to join the Live service.

To do this, click on the same button Guide and select "join Xbox Live", and then register by following the instructions on the screen.

IMPORTANT! The age should be indicated as real, since it depends on this whether the account will be adult or child.

Freeboot

Freeboot (Dashboard) gives the owner of the console a lot of goodies, such as the ability to run games without a disk from any manufacturer, make yourself full versions of XBLA arcades, run all downloaded games that usually require money for it. Here you can forget about the firmware, and those who have the ConnectX plug-in on Freeboot can even play on the console from a computer hard drive.

However, not everything is as fabulous as we would like. All Freeboot users are denied access to the Live service. And the first connection to the network for them is somewhat different:

  1. Before pressing the Guide button, you need to hold down RB, and after Guide press Y, then YES and press button A (RB we hold it all the time until the console goes to the original menu).
  2. Choose System, Network (if the connection is wired, then click on Wired, and if via Wi-Fi - on Wireless, look for your network and press A).
  3. During the network check all the time, click Cancel (button B).
  4. We refuse the proposed updates.
  5. After connecting, to return to Freeboot, click the Guide button and Y.
  6. If the connection is successful, the IP address will appear in the lower left corner.

Such a Freeboot setting will allow using the Link program to enjoy multiplayer over the Net for free, but only on unofficial servers (in Live you need to buy a GOLD account for this).

In addition, users are constantly coming up with new ways to access the Web, trying to get around the danger of locking their console. If you know this method for Freeboot, then leave its description in the comments.
