And nevertheless, if you feel confident in yourself to undertake the installation and configuration of Telecard independently, then boldly get to work, smartly and slowly.

Theory, without which nowhere

The installation will require a sequence of strictly following consecutive actions, so we strongly advise you to preliminarily collect your thoughts and draw up a plan for future work, and it will be very useful to assign tools and accessories to each item of the plan that you intend to use at this point. Prepare everything in advance and place it in a convenient place so that you do not have to look for the unfortunate dowel somewhere in the basement, and it is on the roof.

Installing a Telecard will require some theoretical knowledge from you.

First, the signal will be received from the geostationary (motionlessly hanging above the ground) television satellite "Intelsat-15", "hanging" strictly above the equator above the 85th degree east longitude (we need to know exactly - 85.15 ° E ). This is the Indian Ocean, 700 kilometers south to the equator from Sri Lanka. Sputnik - American, launched in 2009 by a Russian rocket from Baikonur. It is specifically designed by Intelsat for broadcasting in Asia and Russia. Initially it was assumed that out of 22 Ku-band transponders, 6 will be given to Russia, but so far only 4 with a 36 MHz band are operating on this territory.

Secondly. For the success of the whole undertaking, it is necessary to check whether your installation site is in the coverage area of ​​a satellite signal. If not included, consider it out of luck and you can still suffer with a local cable provider. If it enters, it remains to find out to what extent, the diameter of the dish, which will be necessary for a confident reception of the signal, will depend on it.

If you are not on the edge of the zone, then a small plate with diameters of 60 cm may well come up. If closer to the edge, you will have to take 80, or even 100 cm. But finally this subtlety will have to be decided upon purchasing the kit. We advise you not to wait for the weather by the sea and to probe in advance the soil - who is already working with Telekart, what signal quality and diameter of the antenna is chosen, whether it regrets or advises the antenna more.

Not only the quality of the received signal, but also a lot of other side “amenities” depend on the choice of antenna size:

• how comfortable it will be to work with an antenna — the bigger it is, the harder it is;
• how confident she is withstanding the wind load, and yet the wind is one of your main “enemies” in the future, if, moreover, the antenna is placed crazy.

Choosing a place for the antenna

When the antenna is selected, we begin to choose a place to install it. We follow the following rules:

• Determine the general direction to the south, "towards Sri Lanka"; it must be open, not blocked by tall trees or tall buildings. Ideally, a sector of 90 ° should be completely clear at your disposal (45 ° in both directions from the desired direction).
• The place should be at the same time and well closed from the winds. This is how to combine these two seemingly incompatible things, openness and protection from the wind, and consists of the experience and skill of this installer.
• The place must be flat so that the antenna brackets are installed at the elevation angle (up-down) and in azimuth (left-right) without distortions.

When the place is chosen in principle, we begin to specify the direction of the antenna more precisely, which is due to the magnetic vagaries of the Earth, its geomagnetic declination. In other words, if you steer the compass at 85.15 ° c. then there will be no satellite in this place - the Earth is making its own adjustments. How to find out the true direction to the satellite in your city or village - just ask those who have already installed the antenna. And this is the most reasonable way.

2. Enter the name of your locality.
3. On the appeared Google map we search for the point of installation.
4. Finally, choose a satellite - our "Intelsat-15".

Do not forget to note other important parameters on the screen - the magnetic azimuth for the compass and the angle of rotation of the converter.

What is good about working with the map is that you can roughly choose for yourself the guidelines for the direction of the antenna, which then specify the terrain.

Antenna mount

When the place is chosen and the exact direction is determined, you can proceed to fixing the antenna. We strongly recommend that you do this extremely carefully and reliably, the wind will then shake any errors in the installation so that you will have to simply change the turned place. Reliability and thoroughness - that should be the law for any "restaurateur of satellite dishes".

First model the entire installation process, prepare the materials, fasteners and tools. Of course, everyone is free to choose mounting methods, the main thing is, again, solidity and perfect evenness both vertically and horizontally, but, most likely, you will not do:

• without universal dowels ZUM 12 × 71;
• self-tapping screws;
• 5–6 large bolts up to 70 cm long;
• level, in extreme cases a plumb;
• drills, screwdrivers.

Do not forget that during installation it will be necessary to separate the antenna cable and install F-connectors at its ends.

Further:

• fasten the bracket;
• collect satellite dish;
• connect the cable;
• we turn the converter, precisely directing it to the satellite (it is necessary to precisely determine the position of the converter at this moment, then, when everything is mounted, you can not reach the converter);
  

  To complete, install the plate on the bracket (fixing is done with nuts, but you shouldn’t tighten them too much, you may need to make a small adjustment)

Position detection

It is time to pre-determine the position of the plate. At once, the Telekart plate is not a strict parabolic plate, because the converter is not in the center, but on the edge. Here and the geometry of the plate slightly "flows down." From here a conclusion - do not aspire at the direction of a plate to be guided by its center. On the contrary, it will “look” slightly “lower” relative to the previously determined exact direction to the satellite. This is the most effective direction for collecting the signal and sending it to the converter.

Connection and first work with receiver menu

When the position of the Telecard dish is found, it is time to connect. As usual, this is done with the equipment turned off, there wasn’t enough at that crucial moment to catch the “shorty.”

Getting started in a comfortable home environment:

1. Turn on the TV set.
2. We turn on the receiver (with terminology you are, of course, on you).
3. We translate the receiver to a signal from an external source (AV).
   

   If the message “NO SIGNAL” is displayed on the screen, it means that the antenna is not on the satellite

4. In this situation, a professional would take up the instruments, but you can turn to the capabilities of the TV.
   

   On the remote control, press the MENU button and then - "Tuning the antenna"

5. We see that, indeed, the case in the antenna - the signal power does not reach 50%, and its quality is less than 10%. The minimum goal is to make these figures 90 and 70, respectively.
6. Only experience in the future will suggest that often 50–60% is enough, but if we talk about a stable signal, you should always strive for more.

Precise antenna positioning

A more accurate tuning of the antenna to some extent is a matter of experience and skill, but it is generally accepted to use the method of passing the investigated sector +/- 10 ° from the main direction by snake from top to bottom and from left to right (we warn you, you will most likely not be able to perform this fine operation yourself, because one works with the antenna, and the other monitors the readings on the screen):

• slowly and evenly rotate the antenna horizontally in 1–2 cm;
• at each point we pause and wait up to 5 seconds until the signal has settled;
• we monitor on the screen readings of power and quality of a signal;
• if in this horizontal it was not possible to find anything satisfactory, lower the plate one centimeter down and continue moving horizontally, but in a different direction.

When the signal parameters, and most importantly, the picture quality suits you, consider that the Telecard is set up and everything can be finally tightened and fixed. Installation completed.
