Proper connection of the PS2 to a computer or laptop

PlayStation (PS) is the world's favorite line of consoles. Sony Computer Entertainment does not cease to please their fans, releasing each time a more powerful and productive console. Improved graphics, power increases, each new game released is like a masterpiece. However, there are people who do not pursue fresh innovations - their heart is forever tied to old toys. This includes PS2 users. By modern standards, this is already an outdated console, however, people continue to use it. The new is not always the best, and sometimes, in pursuit of graphics, we lose sight of the most important thing - the idea and the plot.

Old toys possessed this in abundance, since at that time the player could not be lured into a juicy picture, due to the technical possibilities of that time. For this reason, it was necessary to invent something really worthwhile that is able to tighten with the head. It is for these reasons that PS2, which was released back in 2000, still has so many fans. In this article we will talk about how to connect the PS two to a computer or laptop.

Connect using network

We begin by connecting the console to the computer via the network. In this type of connection, the hard disk of a PC (personal computer) will be used as storage for games. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that if you are the owner of the PS2 version of fat, then to use the wireless connection you will have to purchase a network adapter.

There are only two things you need to do on the computer: get a static IP address and create a folder with public access.

In order to find out the static IP address, you need to go to the "Network and Sharing Center", then "Change adapter settings".

Right-click on the connection and select “Status” from the context menu. In the window that opens, you will see a button with the name "Details" - click on it.

A summary of the parameters of your connection is displayed, find the line “Default Gateway”. The combination of these numbers must be remembered, or even better written out. Go back to the "Network Connections" window and right-click on the connection, this time click on the "Properties" menu item. Then find the item called “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4)”, select it and click on the “Properties” button.

Click on "Use the following IP address" and manually enter the combination that you memorized before. The last number can be any, the main thing that you remember is the address of your computer. The subnet mask will appear automatically and you will only have to fill in the “Default gateway” - this is again the number you memorized, and the “Preferred DNS server” - the same combination of numbers. Save changes and exit. These actions were necessary to create a static computer address.

Now go back to the “Network and Sharing Center” and click on “Change advanced sharing settings”. In the window that opens, expand the item "All networks", then you need to tick off "Enable sharing" so that users can view and save files in shared folders and "Disable sharing with password protection."

Go to the drop-down menu "Network Discovery" and there put a checkbox in front of "Enable automatic configuration on network devices." The last thing left to put a checkmark is "Network Discovery", put them in front of "Enable Network Discovery" and "Enable File and Printer Sharing".

After configuring the computer settings, go to the hard drive where the games will be stored. Create a PS folder in the root, inside this folder, create two more folders CD and DVD. In the DVD directory will put all the images of games that you want to play. It is important that the games are in the iso format, since we imitate the loading of the game from the drive. Now the PS folder needs to be networked - only after that the console itself will see it. Make it easy. Right-click on the folder, go to the “Access” tab, then click on the “Advanced Setup” button.

In the window that opens, put a tick in front of "Share this folder."

After that, the previously unavailable settings in this window will become active, and you need to click on the “Permissions” button. In groups there will be “All”, and you just put all the checkmarks below under the column “Allow”. Apply all settings.

This completes the computer settings, and the last thing to do is to connect the PS2 itself. Simply connect the console to the router via a network cable.

Setting up the computer behind, now the most difficult thing is preparing the console. It is necessary to install FMCB (FreeMCBoot) on Sonya - this is a method for launching applications directly from a memory card, in the form of an independent loader. There are two options - simple and complex. Simple in this case is to find a person with a chip console and ask him to write the utility to your drive. The second way is to do it yourself, using a computer. We will not take the path of least resistance and tell you how to install FMCB on your own.

FMCB installation

You will need a PlayStation Memory Card Transfer Adapter, it will not be difficult to purchase it, and the purchase will not hit hard. Such an adapter will help you to write FMCB to a memory card for PS2.

PlayStation Memory Card Transfer Adapter

The first thing you need to do is connect it to your computer using a miniusb cable. The next step is to install the drivers. The instruction is presented in plain English, plus all the necessary files for installation are attached. If in a nutshell, then you download drivers from this resource and simply, launching one by one, install it on a computer. As a rule, on older systems (WindowsXP / Vista / 7) the installation runs without any problems, but on newer operating systems there are difficulties. The reason is that such adapters have long been discontinued, since their original purpose was to transfer the save games from PS2 to PS3. Sony, after some time, removed this opportunity, and the device was simply not needed. New systems are equipped with an algorithm for checking the reliability of the installed drivers, and they are the ones who verify the presence of the manufacturer's signature. Obviously, the old one doesn’t have it - in order to install these drivers, disable signature verification.

After installing the driver card must be formatted. To do this, go to the previously downloaded folder and run the file called mc-format.bat. Wait until the end of the procedure. Then run full-install.bat. The installation process will take some time. Once it is finished, remove the PS2 memory card from the adapter and insert it into the console. Turn on the console, and after a few seconds you will see the installed FSMB.

After you have successfully launched FSMB, it will remain with it to show the console IP address. To do this, go to OPL, then Networkconfig. You will see a menu like this:

Please note that the type of IP address is static. The IP address itself is different from the address of the computer, while the IP address of the router and the server are identical to those of the computer. Below in the type of address should be IP, and the address itself is the static address of your computer. Share is the name of the folder on the computer we created earlier. Click OK and go to Setting. There we set the following parameter:

Click SaveChange to save the changes.

Done! Now you can go to the GameList, there choose your hard drive, which is a folder with games. Now you have the opportunity to play on the PS2 using a computer in any downloaded game without a disk or usb-flash drive.

Connect to a laptop

A laptop is the same computer, respectively, by repeating the steps described above, you will get the same result.

Connecting PS2 to monitor

In the absence of a TV for playing on the PS2 console, an ordinary monitor from a computer will also work. To do this, just buy a special adapter, of which a huge amount. The cost of these adapters is low and does not hit hard.

On this, our article comes to an end. We hope that we have covered the topic of connecting the PS2 to a computer or laptop quite fully.
